Five proud years serving the people of Donington - August 2013

It’s five years since Molsom Family Eyecare opened its practice in Donington. A truly family business with family values the practice is owned by Andy Molsom, and his sister Cheryl Clark. Since opening, Cheryl’s daughter Annica has joined the business and is working towards her Dispensing Optician qualification.

Andy and Cheryl have over 50 years of optical experience between them. "At Molsom Optometrists we pride ourselves on our professional services and the relationship we’ve built with local people, many of whom have become friends. It’s about putting people’s needs first every time" said Andy. The two practices in the group always invest in the latest technology to ensure they always offer patients the very best in eye care and eye wear.

The practices cater for the requirements of both NHS eligible patients and private patients by offering a choice of eye examinations. "With today’s technology we can discover so much about a person’s general health as well as their eye care needs so we always encourage our patients to choose an advanced eye examination. This includes taking a photo of the retina; the inside surface of the eye. This is called Retinal Photography, and enables us to compare further photographs at subsequent eye examinations. This process helps us to detect even the smallest change and serves as an early warning system for all sorts of health conditions, not just those solely related to the eyes. High blood pressure, Diabetes and raised cholesterol levels are a few examples of what can be detected" said Cheryl. NHS patients can upgrade to an advanced examination if they wish for a nominal charge.

The business employs two additional Optometrists at Donington Tracey Griffiths who has been working with us since we opened in Spalding in 1997, and Robert Young who previously worked in Boston. Andy and Robert both specialise in fitting Contact Lenses and Dry Eye Treatments. This year Andy Molsom was nominated for the prestigious Macular Society Optometrist of the Year Award.

In addition to the high-tech clinical services offered to patients, the business prides itself on the choice of spectacle collections, sunglasses and lens types available to suit everyone’s pocket. The practice teams are well-trained and are always very happy to offer advice on frames and lenses to ensure patients get the most from their vision and look good in the process.

In addition to the practice in Spalding, In Donington, Molsom Family Eyecare is located in the Market Place where we have disabled access which is available upon request. Local car parks are free! "We’ve enjoyed serving the people of Donington these past five years and hope to do so for decades to come" said Andy.
