Local optician gives away top attractions membership to loyal patient for Community Optician’s Week.

Local Peterborough resident, Mrs Smith, has won a nationwide competition to win a National Trust annual membership as part of Sight Care’s Community Opticians Week.

Mrs Smith was picked, from hundreds of other applicants after entering the free prize draw by booking an eye examination during the summer at her local opticians; Molsom & Associates in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Molsom & Associates, along with more than 600 opticians across the UK, is a member of Sight Care, a support network for independent opticians, who join together to host Community Optician’s Week.

The awareness week, run by Sight Care in collaboration with sponsor Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, aims to encourage members of the public to use their local opticians to discover the benefits of community run practices. The week promoted the values of independent practices and the contribution they make to local communities. The competition aimed to encourage patients to book an eye test to ensure optimal eye health care.

Prize winner, Mrs Smith said : “I am delighted to win the competition and my husband and I are looking forward to taking our grandchildren to enjoy the various attractions the National Trust have to offer especially during the winter months as it will give us activities to do in the rainy weather. Looking after our eyesight is very important to me and it was a great incentive to encourage people to book an appointment. I’m just glad I was visiting the practice at the right time to enter”.

Andy Molsom, owner of Molsom & Associates, added “The National Trust annual membership as a prize encourages families to enjoy fun days together away from televisions, I pads and X boxes. Not only does this encourage stronger family units, but also gives the eyes a rest from the constant reliance on screens that our modern lifestyles depend on. We are delighted tp present Mrs Smith and her family with the prize, and hope that Community Opticians Week encourages more people to use independent practices and businesses”.
