Age-related Macular Degeneration.
We work closely at Molsom & Associates with the Macular Society to provide an individual service to patients who may have concerns with regards to AMD (or age related Macular Degeneration). We offer an advanced NHS or advanced private eye examination. These include fundus photography and an OCT scan, as well as a very thorough consultation with one of our Optometrists. Our qualified staff will use the Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT for short) to scan your eye in a quick, non invasive, painless sitting. The technology is able to create a 3D cross sectional scan of the eye using light which allows our optometrists to instantly diagnose a number of common conditions. These include AMD, diabetes, glaucoma, macular holes and vitreous detachments. What’s more with the images stored the Optometrist can detect even the most subtle changes to the retina.
We are happy to be supporting our local Macular Society branch with an event at the beginning of September to raise awareness of this condition. The Macular Society provides support and the information needed for anyone suffering with a macular condition. We use Topcon OCT technology and our staff have over 6 years experience of not only taking clear and accurate scans, but for our optometrists understanding the scan images and explaining them clearly to you the patient. With this technology and Mr Molsom’s experience Molsom & Associates are able to provide a service, through the NHS, for patients being referred to be seen by a Practitioner with a special interest in the local community.
